If you ask any Allure editor or board-certified dermatologist about the non-negotiables of skin care, we guarantee that sunscreen (with SPF 30 or higher) will be at the top of the list. Need a friendly reminder? UV protection guards against signs of aging (prevention is key!), sunburns (ouch!), and skin cancer (the worst case scenario). The good news is there's a nearly infinite amount of sunscreens on the market that will keep you covered (literally). But if you need a bit of curation, the best Supergoop sunscreens provide a very accessible, thoughtfully formulated lineup approved by skin-care experts. (Hello, us!)

Ok, so what makes Supergoop products so promising? Ever since the brand launched in 2007, it's become an Allure Best of Beauty-winning mainstay for its impressive skin-protecting and nourishing formulations that don't contain oxybenzone, octinoxate, parabens, and 1,600 other ingredients on the brand's No List. These meticulously crafted formulas also contain nourishing ingredients, including brightening, free-radical-fighting vitamin C, and hydrating hyaluronic acid. Did we mention Supergoop products blend into the skin like a dream, so you won't have to worry about issues like white casts and sticky residue?

Our Top Supergoop Sunscreens

To play devil's advocate (it's only fair!), the price-to-size ratio is not the best on the market—prices range from $34 to $48 for just 1.7 ounces of product, so you might run out sooner than expected. Also, as you'll see, we only have one fully mineral formula represented in our top picks, so it's pretty clear which category the brand excels in. If you have sensitive skin and/or are pregnant/breastfeeding, take note!

But enough intro-ing. Keep reading to learn more about our favorite Supergoop products that guard our skin all year long.

Why it's worth it: Watery lotion, featherweight serum, SPF magic—whatever you call it, our top Supergoop pick will suit anyone's preferences. (Unless you hate a healthy-looking glow.) After all, it's in the name: Every. Single. Face. You'll barely notice this extra-fluid formula throughout application and even post-application, as it blends in super quickly and seamlessly and doesn't pill when layered with other skin care and/or makeup. The star ingredients have us feeling like we've picked them freshly from our gardens. Cress sprout extract filters pollution and strengthens your barrier, while wild butter ginger root extract helps block damaging, dark-spot-inducing free radicals. What more could you ask for? Every.Single.Face for Every.Single.Day!

Tester feedback from associate beauty director Sarah Kinonen

"Ever since discovering Korean sunscreens a few years ago, I've said goodbye to (most) American formulas. The lightweight, fluid textures and ability to blend into skin almost instantly is difficult to leave behind. But Supergoop's Every. Single. Face. Watery Lotion SPF 50 is so similar to something straight out of Seoul that it's become the exception to the rule. I only wish it came in a bigger bottle!"

Best Overall Mineral: Mineral Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

Why it's worth it: If you have sensitive skin but are curious about the hype surrounding Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen, we (and the brand) have a simple solution. Enter: Unseen Mineral. While it notably doesn't come out of the tube totally clear, the velvety formula does dry down without a trace. While, similarly to its chemical predecessor, Unseen Mineral doubles as a makeup-gripping primer, Mineral is uniquely water- and sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes, making it ideal for sports lovers (like our tester) and just about anyone who experiences, well, balmy summers.

Tester feedback from senior art director Ingrid Fowler

“It's so hard to find a good mineral sunscreen that is easy to rub in! This one is so smooth; it feels like velvet on your skin. There is ZERO stickiness which is critical for me since I play a lot of beach volleyball—sticky sunscreens plus sand is beyond terrible.”

Type of sunscreen, key ingredients, and sizes

Type of sunscreen: mineral
Key ingredients: zinc oxide (17.68%), titanium dioxide (1.33%), bamboo extract
Sizes: 1.7 oz.

Best for Dry Skin: Triple Prep Weightless Multitasking Moisturizer SPF 40

Supergoop!

Triple Prep Weightless Multitasking Moisturizer SPF 40

Jesa Marie Calaor applying Supergoop Triple Prep Weightless Multitasking Moisturizer SPF 40

Jesa Marie Calaor

Why it's worth it: Triple Prep Weightless Multitasking Moisturizer SPF 40 is a dream for dry skin. This moisturizing sunscreen is extremely hydrating, thanks to familiar ingredients such as ectoin, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and red algae—and, depending on your skin type, can satisfy both a.m. moisturizer and sunscreen steps. (You can absolutely still use your standalone moisturizer prior, but for combination and oily types, this alone might be enough.) It has a silky finish that doesn't leave a white cast (even on melanated skin) or feel greasy for minutes or hours later.

Despite being very hydrating, it has a slightly mattifying effect, which can be attributed to ingredients calcium aluminum borosilicate and polymethylsilsesquioxane. The former is a "fine powder that gives a soft-focus blurring effect on the skin," and the latter is "a spherical silicone resin powder that helps with wrinkle filling and blurring as well," Amanda Lam, a cosmetic chemist who works for Azelis, a chemical distributor in Los Angeles, explained.

Tester feedback from senior editor Jesa Marie Calaor

“I'm trying to do less with my skin care, and this sunscreen covers critical parts of my routine: moisturizer and SPF. It absorbs quickly and leaves me feeling as if I have slathered on a regular moisturizer. When the formula dries down, it has a silky finish that isn't sticky or greasy. Instead, my skin looks radiant.”

Type of sunscreen, key ingredients, and sizes

Type of sunscreen: chemical
Key ingredients: avobenzone (3%), homosalate (7%), octisalate (5%), octocrylene (6%), ectoin, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, red algae
Sizes: 1.7 oz.

Best Glowy: Glowscreen SPF 40

Angela Trakoshis applying Supergoop's Glowscreen in Bronze Glow

Angela Trakoshis

Why it's worth it: What's the secret to manifesting a radiant complexion? Grabbing a bottle of Glowscreen SPF 40, an Allure Best of Beauty Award winner—obviously. Choose from four shimmery shades that range from a pinky pearl to a deep bronze for a lit-from-within glow. You can wear it alone for a no-makeup-makeup look or layer it underneath your usual base makeup for an illuminating boost. On top of its iridescent finish, this sunscreen also acts as a dew-enhancing primer that's spiked with hydrating hyaluronic acid, skin-firming peptides, and antioxidant-rich sea lavender extract.

Tester feedback from shopping market editor Angela Trakoshis

“Truthfully, I fell in love with how this sunscreen looked on my skin alone. But to give a full review, I layered it on my everyday makeup routine and it totally worked. The sunscreen meshed well with all of my base products like my concealer and blush, and they layered on flawlessly with no patchiness or pilling at all. I even found myself skipping foundation because I really just wanted all the glow this product gave.”

Type of sunscreen, key ingredients, and sizes

Type of sunscreen: chemical
Key ingredients: avobenzone (3%), octisalate (5%), cctocrylene (10%), hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, cocoa peptides
Sizes: 0.68 oz., 1.7 oz., 2.5 oz.

Best Tinted: Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF 50

Supergoop!

Protec(Tint) Daily SPF Tint SPF 50

Annie Blay-Tettey applying Supergoop Protec(tint) Daily SPF Tint SPF 50

Annie Blay-Tettey

Why it's worth it: It's no wonder the Protec(tint) Daily SPF Tint SPF 50 won a 2024 Best of Beauty Award—we mean it when we say the second-skin look and barely-there feel is unmatched for a tinted base product. While it leaves a shinier finish than most lotion-like tinted sunscreens, hyaluronic acid-infused clay curbs excess sebum from peeking through. On top of its oil-absorbing properties, our testers love its sheer coverage that minimally conceals discoloration and hyperpigmentation without looking cakey. And with 14 flexible shades, you're pretty likely to find your match.

P.S. You'll notice this is a hybrid formula, meaning there are both chemical and mineral UV filters present. Allow Kelly A. Dobos, a cosmetic chemist based in Cincinnati, Ohio to explain: "By combining a smaller amount of inorganic sunscreen with organic sunscreens which are clear, you can achieve a higher SPF with broad spectrum protection and less of a white, opaque cast on [the] skin especially for darker skin tones." Consider us sold.

Tester feedback from associate beauty editor Annie Blay-Tettey

"The formula is lightweight, the shade match is near perfect, and it did a decent job of covering up my dark spots. She gives this formula bonus points for its non-greasy finish. "As an oily skin girly, I didn't even have to set it with powder, but if you like a matte finish, you may find this a bit too dewy."

Type of sunscreen, key ingredients, shades, and sizes

Type of sunscreen: hybrid
Key ingredients: zinc oxide (13.58%), homosalate (7%), octisalate (5%), hyaluronic acid, ectoin
Shades: 14
Sizes: 1.18 oz.

Other great Supergoop sunscreens

Supergoop

Unseen Sunscreen Body SPF 40

This 2024 Allure Best of Beauty Award winner earned its seal, thanks to its impressively emollient, clear gel formula. If you're into silky finishes, Unseen Sunscreen Body SPF 40 doesn't disappoint. "It melts onto skin without feeling sticky or heavy," attests Calaor. "I smear it on to protect me from the sun's rays, whether I'm out by the pool or sitting at home, working next to my window."

As we've alluded to, we will point out that this tube only clocks in at 3.4 oz., which is great for travel but is notably not a lot of product for an all-over SPF—especially if you're reapplying every two hours (which you should be!).

Supergoop!

Unseen Sunscreen

Unseen is undoubtedly an icon. It didn't quite make our top five because its gel texture can be a little polarizing, but we can't deny it's a staple for many—especially those with darker skin tones. "Supergoop's SPF 40 Unseen Sunscreen is a perfect option for summer because it is oil-free, lightweight, and practically disappears into the skin," says Caroline Robinson, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Chicago.

How we test and review products

When Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. We review ingredients, scrutinize brand claims, and, when necessary, examine peer-reviewed scientific and medical studies. In addition to testing each and every product that’s included in each and every review, we rely on experts who shape their fields, including dermatology, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine, to help us vet the ingredients and formulas.

For our list of the best Supergoop sunscreens, we considered each product’s performance across five primary categories: product ingredients and efficacy, packaging, fragrance, texture, and product wear. Every product was determined to have excelled in each category by our editorial team, which is composed of in-house writers and editors as well as contributors—along with special consideration from dermatologists. To learn more information on our reporting and testing processes, read our complete reviews process and methodology page.

Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.

After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the “best” for people over 50 if the only testers we’ve solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it’s never been tested on curls? We’re proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.
