If you asked me to name an iconic redhead a few years ago, I would have said Ariel, Disney's flame-haired little mermaid. But now, I might just say Keke Palmer. The actor-singer-host has been living her best redhead life for most of this year so far, and each look is better than the last.

Palmer put her hosting talents to work for the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in Los Angeles on April 8 and channeled the Little Mermaid with long curls that flowed all the way down her back, hitting just above her hips with tons of volume and texture. These weren't tight, spiral ringlets, but a more relaxed, elongated curl with a beachy softness. The curls, styled by Davontae' Washington, were the perfect match for Palmer's sparkly, feathered archival Oscar de la Renta gown, which swished and swayed as she moved. Remember that gorgeous glittery dress Ariel wears at the end of The Little Mermaid when she emerges from the ocean to greet Prince Eric as a human mortal, her hair moving in the ocean breeze? That's what this look is giving.

Glam-wise, Palmer and her makeup artist Kenya Alexis chose a soft palette of champagne and pink tones for her eyes, anchored by flicked-out black cat-eye liner. She mimicked the same palette on her cheeks and lips, plus a matching manicure in the same pinky-nude shade as her glittering gown.

We've seen Palmer experiment with several red tones over the past few months, including a bronzy-red bob for the One of Them Days premiere and a bright strawberry, but this true, gingery copper shade has been her go-to shade—and we totally get why. She's worn short red curls, long, bombshell layers, and even Myspace-style side bangs with a Hot Topic-inspired mani, all in various shades of red-hot red.

Red continues to be one of the biggest hair color trends of the 2020s; we've seen it evolve from dark, '90s-style cherry cola shades to more vivid true reds to the vibrant gingers embraced by stars like Palmer and Megan Thee Stallion. The weather is warming up, so maybe your hair color should too!
